أثار الظاهرة الاستشراق ومازلت تثير جدلا واسعا فى مجال الدراسات الفكرية والحضارية فقد عملت هذه الدراسات على تشكيل العقل الغربى والشرق معا والاستشرق ذلك التيار الفكرى الذى تمثل فى الدراسات المختلفة ع الشرق الإسلامى والتى شملت حضاراته وأديانه وآدابه ولغاته وثقافته وكان لحركة الاستشراق قوة دفع ورواج أثارت واثرت فى الفكر الإنسانى. لقد حاول الغرب أن يرسم صورا غير سوية لشخصية الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم خلال اصطدامه بالحضارة الإسلامية بل وصل الأمر إلى ان بعض من المستشرقين شكك فى وجود النبى حقيقة منهم من شكك فى إسمه وأميته ومنهم من قال انه السميح الدجال ولذلك راينا الصحيفة الدانماركية " جيلاندس بوستن " تسئ إلى الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم بل وتفخر بذلك لأنها تعتقد أن هذا هو الصواب وهذا يرجعنا إلى بدأ منذ بذوغ فجر الإسم.
