يخصَ الدكتور "وجيه حمقة" أبناء طائفته الشيعة بهذا الكتاب الموجودين داخل وطنه لبنان والمغتربون في آن معاً. ويعتبر أن أخاه الشيعي هو ملهمه وبطله في كتابته للأحداث التي عانى منها الشيعي على مئات السنين والتي رافقت أبناء الطائفة وأحفادهم في أرضهم وفي مغتربهم. يقول: "إلى كل هؤلاء ما جمعته من وقائع الوطن والإغترابـ وما عايشته من انكسارات وانتصارات وأنا أجوب قارات الدنيا الأربع، وما خبرته من معاركة الأيام والأحداث، وما حاولت أن أصوغه في رؤى قد تسهم في فتح المغاليق المحكمة، أمام شعب يصبو إلى حياة آمنة كريمة...".
وفي هذا الكتاب يدَون "حمقة" تاريخ الطائفة الشيعية ودورها على يد الحركة النهضوية التي قادها الإمام السيد موسى الصدر بعد عودته من إيران حيث دعا إلى توحيد الشيعة والنهوض بهم لأخذ دورهم الطبيعي في الحياة السياسية والوطنية في لبنان، وكذلك لجميع أعلام الطائفة الذين ساهموا ولا يزالون في نهضة فكرية وعملية في إنشاء جيل من الشباب المثقف الواعي الذي يمكن له أن يساهم في بناء مجتمع السلام الذي يبدأ من سلام الفرد ويمتد ليعم الجميع، كذلك يدون المؤلف المصاعب التي واجهت أخوانه في الطائفة في بلاد الاغتراب وهو واحداً منهم.
كان يؤمن تماماً أن ثورة الإمام الحسين الكربلائية، والتي قادها هذا الظلم والحرمان والقهر جعلت منه أكبر المظلومين في التاريخ لقد تعلم من مدرسته الشموخ والكبرياء وتحكيم العقل.
أما أهم ما يطرحه الكاتب في هذا الكتاب هو دعوة يطلقها ضمن ثقافة الحوار يريد من خلالها مصالحة راسخة لزرع الأمل بين أبناء لبنان يقول: "مصالحات تتم بين الدولة والمجتمع، وبين الأحزاب والمواطن، وبين الأحزاب والسياسة، وإصلاح الخلل القائم بينها، لنريح الوطن مرة واحدة، ونتيح لجناح لبنان الثاني (المغتربين)، بأن "يرى وطنه الأم وقد تعملق من جديد".
وأخيراً يعتبر الكاتب أن طرحه هذا عبارة عن "رسالة في كتاب، أردتها أن تكون من القلب، مفعمة بالصراحة والصدق، ومجللة بكل معاني الوفاء والاخلاص والحب لأوطاننا، بعيداً عن المزايدات والمبالغات، عسى أن تصل إلى أولياء الأمر منَا.. فتساهم في توضيح الصورة لواقع الإنسان الشيعي في لبنان والخارج...".
