من البداية تطرح مذكرات معاوية الرواحي ميثاق الخلاص .. شجار مع بؤبؤ واسع" العلاقة بين المثقف العربي والسلطة، وهو على ما يبدو صراعاً بين رؤيتين مختلفتين، تستند كلٌ منها إلى منظومة قيم وأفكار مختلفة عن الأخرى؛ الخاسر فيها طبعاً المواطن العربي، ليكون السجن مصيره؛ تماماً كما حدث مع راو هذه المذكرات؛ وسواء تقاطع المؤلف مع الراوي أو اختبأ خلفه، أو افترق عنه، كنوع من التقية الروائية، فإنه قدم للقارىء العربي صورة صادقة عن العلاقة بين الحاكم والمحكوم في عالم مرجعي لا يقيم وزناً للإنسان سواء أكان داخل جدران السجن أو خارجه. ففي المقدمة التي يفتتح بها المؤلف الرواحي عمله نقرأ:
"القصة ليست طويلة ولا بطولية ولا ملحمية ولا معقدة. دخلت الحبس عام 2012 على ذمة التحقيق بسبب لساني الطويل. كنا هائجاً في زنزانة شرطة عمان السلطانية في القسم الخاص فأخذوني إلى مستشفى إبن سينا للأمراض العقلية للتأكد من سلامة الفيوزات الموجودة داخل حواف جمجمتي. هذا الكتاب مذكرات كتبتها بخط يدي الرديء جداً في الزنزانة التابعة للشرطة – مستشفى إبن سينا [سابقاً ]، كانت هناك ممرضة رائعة تمدني بالأقلام والدفاتر حفظتها بأمانة طوال عامين حتى وجدت شجاعة على قراءة تلك الأوراق (...) هذا الهذيان الذي تقرؤه أيها القارىء الكريم هو هذيان ذلك السجين المنهك الذي كان يحاول فهم كل شيء وهو يصارع بؤبؤ الجدران الواسع ويحاول فهم سبب واحد يجعله يواصل الحياة ليواصل الكتابة، وقد كان الأمر صعباً للغابة، ولكن النهاية تستحق، فعلاً تستحق، والمجد للكتابة أولاً وأخيراً".
وإذا ما عدنا إلى خطاب المؤلف في "ميثاق الخلاص"، نجد أن التقنية التي يقوم عليها السرد هي التذكر، فمعظم الوقائع متذكرة، يقوم بها راوٍ أساسي هو المؤلف نفسه، فيشكل مرآة لأفكاره وتحليلاته ورؤياه، وقد كان للشعر حضوره عبر مذكراته، فقدم توليفة لغوية جميلة، رصينة، ومتنوعة. وهكذا، حملت اللغة الحدث (السجن) وردمت بعض هناته، فحقق معاوية الرواحي للقارىء متعة مزدوجة لقارىء المذكرات، هي متعة اللغة، ومتعة البوح، وجعل من أيام (إبن سينا) غرفة للإستجمام.
