فضلاً عن الأوزان والمكاييل الطبية التي كان يتعامل بها الأطباء والصيادلة من العرب والمسلمين يضاف إلى ذلك أن هذه الموسوعة عنيت بتحويل كل وحدات القياس المذكورة فيها، إلى ما يعادلها من المقادير الحديثة التي سادت العالم اليوم في الشرق والغرب: كالمتر، والمتر المربع، والكيلوغرام...
كل ذلك جاء مرتباً على الحروف الهجائية بحسب نطقها ورسمها من جهة، وبحسب أوائلها ومراعاة ما بعد الأوائل من جهة أخرى، دون تجريدها من الزوائد. هذا وتنقسم الموسوعة بشكل عام إلى مدخل وستة أقسام: تضمن المدخل الكلام على الأسس العامة التي انطلقت منها الموسوعة من تقصي وحدات القياس المختلفة، وحساب مقاديرها، بحسب النظام المتري الحديث، والوقوف عند الوحدات الأساسية للمقاييس الإسلامية، وهي: الذراع الشرعية، والجريب، والمثقال، والدرهم. وبعد هذا المدخل، جاءت مواد الموسوعة، بوحداتها القياسية موزعة بحسب نوعها: الطول، فالمساحة، فالوزن، فالكيل، فالوحدات المشتركة. وأخيراً جاء الملحق بالأوزان والمكاييل الطبية...
