انحسر اهتمام الناس عن العلم والعلماء، وانصب على المال وأهله، ولهث الناس وراء المال وجامعيه، وتفانوا في سبيل مرضاتهم وكسب ودهم على نهج (من جاور السعيد يسعد).
حتى أهل العلم لهثوا وراء هذا المعشوق، وقد يكون البعض منهم بذل نفسه في سبيل الحصول عليه، وقد نلتمس العذر لبعضهم، لعزوف أهل المال والسطوة والسلطة عن تقدير أهل العلم، كما كان في سابق العصور.
صحيح أن مكانتهم ما زالت في قلوب الناس وعقولهم هي الفضلى، والإكبار والإجلال باقٍ لهم، ولكن كل هذا لا يطعم فم ولا يكسو بدن، وهذا قد يعطي العذر لبعضهم، ولكن البعض الآخر اتخذه حرفة لجمعه وتكنيزه.
لقد بدأت نهضة أوربا الحديثة اعتمادًا على مجلداتهم في مختلف العلوم الطب والرياضة والفلك والكيمياء والفلسفة… حتى الإسلام كمنهج حياة طبقوه على مناحي حياتهم، لدرجة أن الإمام محمد عبده عندما سافر إلى فرنسا قال: وجدت إسلامًا من غير مسلمين، وفي بلاد المسلمين مسلمين بلا إسلام.
العلماء والفقهاء لم يضعوا قوالب جامدة، وكلهم أجمعوا وقالوا: إن رأيهم يؤخذ منه ويرد، فليس فيهم أو منهم نبي أو رسول ينزل عليه وحي من السماء.
وإحدى هذه الدرر هو حديث الإمام الذي هو موضوع هذا الكتيب، لكي يعلم الجميع أن هذه الهجمة يقودها أناس مغرضون.
