"إن عملي هو الإنتظار"!
هذه الجملة التي أوردها الروائي الياباني المعاصر "ياسو أوكا شوتارووه" في قصته "الحذاء الزجاجي" من أكثر الجمل التي تحمل معنى عميقاً ورمزاً قد يكون مفتاحاً يقودنا إلى واحدة من المعاني الجوهرية لهذه الرواية.
نعم.. عمله هو الإنتظار ولا شئ غيره.. فقد كان يعمل حارساً لمتجر لبيع بنادق الصيد وذلك في فترة الليل، ولكنه كان يعلم تماماً إنه ليست لديه القدرة على أن يفعل شيئاً.. فلو هاجم لص فلن يستطيع رده.. ولو شب حريق فلن يستطيع إطفاءه، فكان يكتفي بمراقبة الباب الزجاجي للمتجر ومراقبة قراءة عداد درجة الحرارة المعلق على الجدار هناك.
كان أيضاً لايملك سوى الإنتظار حتى تنتهي عطلة الصيف.. ولكن في أي يوم بالتحديد.. لم يكن يعرف، حيث تنتهي قصة حبه الحالمة الغريبة مع "إيتسوقو" الخادمة البريئة براءة الأطفال داخل جدران ذلك البيت الفاخر الذي كان يسكن به ضابط أمريكي وكان يغيب عنه في رحلة اثناء الصيد نعم فحين يعود الضابط الأمريكي فجأة يوم ما.. كان سينتهي الحلم وكانت ستختفي سندريلا.. "إيتسوقو"، ولكنه هذه المرة لم يكن أن يجدها بعد أن تترك فردة حذائها الزجاجي أو أن يحول الحلم إلى حقيقة فيصل إليها ويتزوجها.. فلم يكن قادراً إلا على الإنتظار فقط.. انتظار ان ينتهي الحلم!
