يتناول هذا الكتاب تاريخ الكرة الطائرة وخصائصها وعرضا لنتائج البطولات الدولية والأولمبية . كما يتضمن التعلم الحركى والمهارات الأساسية فى الكرة الطائرة ومجموعة من الاختيارات المهارية الخاصة بالكرة الطائرة والتى تساعد على تقييم مدى التقدم والنجاح الذى يتحقق خلال تعلم هذه المهارات . ويبرز الكتاب دور الناحية الفسيولوجية وعلاقتها بالاداء فى الكرة الطرائرة وكذلك أهمية التدريب العلقى وقضية انتقاء الناشئين والوقوف على أهم الطرق لانتقاء الناشئين . ومن الموضوعات الهامة فى الكتاب تحليل مباريات الكرة الطائرة والدور الجديد الذى تلعبه الحاسبات الآلية فى دقة وسرعة حصول المدرب على المعلومات الخاصة بفريقه . ويضم مجموعة من المصطلحات الهامة فى مجال رياضة الكرة الطائرة ومقابلها باللغة الانجليزية وقواعد مسابقات الكرة الطائرة من 1997 - 2000 م . وهو بذلك يفى بأغراض كثيرة مما ينبغى أن يلم بها المهتمون برياضة الكرة الطائرة .
