يهدف الكتاب الحالي - الثالث في سلسلة علم نفس الفن - إلى الإستفادة من إختبار رسم المنزل والشجرة والشخص، وتطبيقه على الأطفال والمراهقين من سن 6 سنوات وحتى 17 عاماً، وذلك لأن النسخة الموجودة حالياً من الإختبار في المجتمع المحلي والعربي تناسب الأعمار فوق 15 عاماً، بالإضافة إلى أن غالبية العينة التي تمَّ تقنين الإختبار عليها كانت من الراشدين (مليكة: 2000).
ولان تلك المعايير التي يتم على أساسها التفسير الكيفي - في النسخة الموجودة حالياً من الإختبار في المجتمع المحلي والعربي - قد استُخْرِجَت في بيئات أجنبي تختلف عنا ثقافياً وحضارياً، وهذا الإختلاف الثقافي والحضاري يؤدي بدوره إلى وجود فروق في الدلالات النفسية القائمة على ذلك التفسير الكيفي، حيث توصلت بعض الدراسات عبر الثقافي في البيئتين العربية والأجنبية إلى ما يؤكد هذا المعنى (مليكة: 1994، ص 228 - 230؛ الدهان: 1989؛ آل هرويتز والبسيوني: 1993؛ البسيوني: 1998؛ حسنى: 1979؛ 1981: Kline & Savste؛ 1994: Soutter).
وبالإضافة - أيضاً - إلى أن البحوث السابقة التي أجريت في المجتمع المحلي حول رسوم الأطفال والمراهقين غالباً ما يتمُّ تناولها من جانب المختصين بالتربية الفنية، وينصب إهتمامهم على معرفة الفروق التشكيلية لعناصر الرسم، وكيفية تنمية المهارات الفنية لديهم، وفائدتها التربوية، بيد أن هناك قصوراً في قيام دراسات نفسية تهدف إلى الإستفادة من إختبارات الرسم الثابتة والمعروفة في البيئة المحلية، وإستخراج الدلالات النفسية المناسبة لها.
ونظراً لأهمية إختبار رسم المنزل والشجرة والشخص التاريخية، والعلمية معاً، فإن الباحث الحالي يقدم محاولة لتطبيق عملي ميداني لهذا الإختبار في البيئة المحلية على الأطفال والمراهقين.
وذلك عن طريق معرفة عناصر الرسم التي تميز الأطفال والمراهقين العاديين، ومؤشرات تطورها، ومقارنتها برسوم الفئات الخاصة.
