خلال تلك الترة شهدت مصر كثيراً من القضايا التي شغلت بال الناس، وملأت وسائل افعلام لغطاً وجدلاً، بدءاص بقرار فرض الحماية البريطانية على مصر وموقف الهيئة من ثوة 1919، وخاصة مسألة انتهاك القوات البريطانية لحرمة الأزهر وكذلك مسألة إلغاء الخلافة الإسلامية بالدولة العثمانية وكثير من القضايا السياسية التي يضيق هذا المقام بتفصيلها ويجد القارئ العزيز متسعاً لها داخل صفحات هذا الكتاب، هذا بالإضافة إلى إستعراض المؤلفة لموقف الهيئة من كثير من القضايا الإقتصادية والإجتماعية خلال عمرها الذي ناهز نصف قرن، مثل مقال "مدينة القوانين" لمحمود عزمي الذي أثار ضجة واسعة، وكذلك كتاب "الإسلام وأصول الحكم" لعلي عبد الرازق، وكتاب "في الشعر الجاهلي" لطه حسين، وموقف هيئة العلماء من قضية التنصير التي انتشرت بشكل لافت للنظر في تلك الفترة وموقف الهيئة من مسألة إلغاء الوقف الاهلي سنة 1952، وغير ذلك من القضايا الإجتماعية والإقتصادية، بالإضافة إلى استعراض الباحثة لتاريخ الهيئة وتطورها الإداري، والمخصصات المالية لأعضائها، وتحليل الظوف التي أدت إلى إنشائها، وتلك التي أوجبت إلغاءها واستبدالها بمجمع البحوث الإسلامية سنة 1961 ليواكب ظروف العصر.
