الهدف من اختيار هذا الموضوع، والاتجاه نحو (لسان العرب) وآقاقه الرحبة هو تزويد ساحة البحث البلاغي، ورحبته بصورة من الكنايات الطريفة التى لم تعرض لها كتب البلاغة المألوفة، ولعل في ذلك إسهاما- ولو ضئيلا - في رفعة البلاغة العربية وإعلاء شأنها.
وقد هدى الله ووفق وأعان وسدد في قراءة (لسان العرب) واستخراج ما امكن من كنايات - فله سبحانه الحمد والمنة- وقد بذلت حمادى الجهد، وقصارى الطاقة في فهم هذه الكنايات وعرض كل واحدة منها على حدة مسترشدا بالثوابت البلاغية التى أسس بنياتها علماء البلاغة- رحمهم الله- وقد جعلت هذا العمل في مقدمة وتمهيد وأربعة فصول وخاتمة وذيلية بالفهارس المختلفة.
