تمر الأيام وتنقضي السنون، ويفنى جيل بعد جيل، ولا يبق سوى التاريخ، والحضارة بل يتغير التاريخ ويتبدل، وتختفي الحضارة وتزول، ولا يبق سوى آثارها التي تدل على قدر عِظمها، وعَظمة صانعيها، هذه حال مساجد مدينة دلهي العتيقة ومآذنها، التي يحكي كل حجر منها كيف أن بُناة هذه الصروح قد بذلوا- بكل حب وتضحية- الجهد والعرق في بناء تلك القطع الأثرية وتشييدها حتى باتت على هذا الشكل من الروعة والإبداع، لذلك فمن حق بُناة هذه المساجد علينا أن نقف لهم إكبارا، وإجلالاً واعترافا منا بدورهم الفاعل. ولا يجب أن نقصر الفضل للملوك والأمراء الذين بُنيت في عهدهم هذه المساجد، غافلين الأيدي الخفية، بل الأيدي الفاعلة وراء هذه الصروح الشاهقة.
