لقد عنيت هذه الدراسة بأكثر العصور العربية تميّزاً، من حيث الثقافة وازدهارها، ونبوغ عدد من الأدباء الذين علا ذكرهم من ذوي الأصول العربية والأعجمية، لأن هذا العصر عصر حركة وتثاقف بين الأجناس، لذلك حاولت هذه الدراسة أن تجلي وتكشف عن تجارب الشعراء ومدى تفاعلهم مع الدين والتاريخ، من حيث استدعاء شخصيات سبقت الإسلام. فالمتتبع لدواوين شعراء العصر العباسي تلفته هذه الظاهرة. وتنبع أهمية هذا الموضوع من كونه يحاول أن يلتئم مع غيره من الدراسات التي تناولت الموضوع سواء أكان تناولها له صلة بالموضوع من قريب أو بعيد، فهذه الدراسة انفردت عن غيرها من الدراسات حينما اختصت في تناول شخصيات عاشت قبل الإسلام ومدى تجاوب الشعراء معهم في أشعارهم، فاستدعاؤهم لها يعني أن الشعراء يحاولون صهر التاريخ ومحاكاته لتدعيم العمل الأدبي.
