هذا بحث أعده جديدًا في موضوعه وهو تغيير النحويين لأبيات الشعر حتى يستشهدوا بها على قاعدتهم، أوحي إلي به تحقيقي لأبيات الشواهد في بحوث أخرى حيث وجدت الشاهد في كتب النحو يختلف عنه في كتب الأدب ومجموعات الشعر وديوان الشاعر وهذه الأخيرة هي المعين الذي يصدر عنه النحاة والمورد الذي يستقون منه، فإذا كان لابد من رواية صحيحة للبيت فلتكن تلك التي في ديوان الشاعر أو في كتب الأدب وما عدا ذلك يعد خطأ وتحريفًا للرواية، ورايت بيتًا وبيتين من ذلك وعشرة منه، فقلت في نفسي ألا يكون ذلك بحثًا إذا جمعت خمسين بيتًا وبدأت أطوف وأتصفح كتب النحو أو أكثرها وبخاصة المطولة منها التي تشرح الشواهد وتحققها لأكتشف ما يزيد على المائتي بيت كما يرى القارئ في هذا البحث.
