في الحديث عن الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم: "احفوا الشوارب واعفوا اللحى" ليستطيع الرجل المسلم، المؤمن أن يميز أخاه المسلم، عن الرجل اليهودي في المدينة المنورة، فيتعرف عليه بسهولة ويسر، حيث تكون (اللحية) علامة للمسلم، فيستدل على شخصه من خلالها.
فقد اختلط الحابل بالنابل، وتشابهت اللحى علينا، فصرنا مضطرين لاستنباط وسيلة جديدة نعتمد عليها للتعرف على حقيقة شخص المسلم...
هناك وسائل كثيرة يمكن الركون إليها، لمعرفة شخص المسلم... عن طريق السؤال مثلاً، عن اسمه، أو جنسه بلده... أو عن طريق اللباس الخارجي أو لباس الرأس، دو لون البشرة، أو مكان السكن؟ وكل هذه الكلام، في النهاية، هو كلام عبثي. لا طعم له. ولا يقدم ولا يؤخر... فما جدوى أن تعرف هذا الشخص، إن كان: أندونسياً أو ماليزياً أو باكستانياً أو فارسياً أو تركياً أو عربياً... طالما أن الله لا ينظر إلى صوركم وأجسامكن، بل ينظر إلى قلوبكم.
