لعلّكم شاهدتموني على التلفاز بعد تحطّم الطائرة، الفيديو قصير، وكلّ ما يظهر فيه حائل اللون مسفوع بالشمس، وسُحبَ بعد عرضه مرّتين فقط في الموجز الإخباريّ لأنّ تأثيره كان سلبيّاً على معنويّات قوّاتنا المسلّحة.
لن تعرفوا من خلاله أنّنا كنّا نسير نحو ياك وَن الجائمة خلف المصوّر في منتصف المَدْرج، وهي ما تزال موصولة بمضخّة الوقود الإضافيّة ويحيط بها مجموعة من جنود الكوماندوس اليقظين يرتدون بدلات مموّهة، بجسمها الرماديّ الكامد الذي يمسّ الأرض بالكاد، بدت الطائرة كأنّها حوتٌ جانحٌ على شاطئ يفكّر كيف سيجرجر نفسه إلى البحر، أمّا مقدّمتها فكانت منحنيةً ترقّباً للمهمّة الضخمة التي تنتظرها.
يقع المدرج في منتصف صحراء بهاوالبور على بعد ستمئة ميل من بحر العرب، ولا يفصل أشعة الشمس الحارقة عن الرمال البرّاقة غير المتناهيّة حفنةٌ من الرجال ببدلاتٍ عسكريّة خاكيّة يسيرون نحو الطائرة.
يظهر وجه الجنرال ضياء للحظة وجيزة في الفيديو، وهي الذكرى الأخيرة المتلفزة لرجلٍ طالما التُقِطَتْ صورُه، مفرق شعره يلمع في منتصف رأسه تحت أشعَة الشمس، أسنانه ذات البياض الإصطناعيّ تبرق، وشاربه يؤدي رقصته الصغيرة المألوفة أمام الكاميرا... لكنّكم ستدركون ما إن تبتعد الكاميرا عنه أنّه لا يبتسم، وإن تطلّعتم بدقّة أكثر ستكتشفون أنّه منزعجٌ، ويمشي مشية مصاب بالإمساك.
وُلِد "محمّد حنيف" في أوكارا، باكستان عام 1964، وتخرّج في أكاديميّة سلاح الجوّ الباكستانيّ كضابط طيّار، لكنّه ما لبث أن استقال كي يتفرّ للكتابة.
أُدرِجتْ روايتُه الأولى "قضيّة المانغا المتفجّرة 2008" على القائمة الطويلة لجائزة البوكر Booker Prize، وعلى القائمة القصيرة لجائزة صحيفة الغارديان لأفضل كتاب، المخصّصة للعمل الأدبيّ الأوّل The Guardian first book award، وربحتْ جائزةَ الكومونويلث لأفضل كتاب The Commonwealth Prize for best book، وجائزةً Shakti Bhatt لأفضل نتاج أدبيّ أوّل.
أمّا روايتُه الثانية "سيّدتنا أليس باتّي 2011"، فقد أُدرِجتْ على القائمة القصيرة لجائزة وِلكَم بوك Welcome Book Prize وجائزة DSC Prize لأدب جنوب آسيا.
