ولد في بيروت سنة 1888، وعمل في الصحافة في لبنان ومصر وسورية. ألف كماً كبيراً من الأعمال الأدبية والتاريخية والروائية، وكان له الفضل في الإشراف على طباعة الكتاب في بيروت. توفي سنة 1960.

من القصص العربية الشعبية.. قصة الزير وبطلها أبو ليلى عدي بن ربيعة التغلبي.. خال امرؤ القيس بن حجر الشاعر الجاهلي المشهور وجد عمرو بن كلثوم لأمه، ولد ونشأ في قبيلة بني تغلب وكانت منازلهم في الشمال الشرقي من نجد... والتاريخ العربي في الجاهلية غامض مليء بالأساطير والمبالغات، ذلك أن العرب في ذلك العهد لم يدونوا تاريخهم، ولا تاريخ بدون آثار وتدوين.. كانوا يتناقلون أخبارهم وحوادثهم من طريق الرواية، والرواية الكاذبة تسربت إلى الأحاديث بعد الإسلام فكيف بها قبله! خصوصا وقد كان من مصلحة القبائل العربية المختلفة بعضها مع بعض أن تنسب لأبطالها ولنفسها أخباراً وحوادث لا ينهض لها تاريخ ولا يؤمن بها عقل، فقد نسبوا مثلا إلى أجسام بعضهم طولا مفرطا، وعمرهم أعمارا لم يعشها إنسان في عصر من العصور، ونسبوا لهم من الأعمال ما لا يستقيم في عقل، وما لا طاقة لإنسان بمثله أو أقله. وبهدف إخراج الآثار العربية الشعبية القديمة جاء هذا العمل الذي يحوي بالإضافة الى سيرة الزير أبو ليلى المهلهل على تعريف بحرب البسوس التي هي السبب الخفي من وراء هذه القصة.
