يرصد هذا الكتاب مملكة أوجاريت السورية (رأس شمرا) الواقعة على الساحل السوري شمال مدينة اللاذقية بــ: 12 كم، متخذاً من الجانب الإقتصادي (صناعة المعادن وتجارتها) محوراً أساسياً له، حيث جرت العادة عند دراسة حضارات الشرق القديم أن يتم الإهتمام والتركيز على الجانب السياسي وإهمال الجانب الحضاري عامة والإقتصادي خاصة.
ونظراً لأهمية هذا الجانب في إعطاء صورة واضحة عن المستوى الذي وصلت إليه هذه المملكة إقتصادياً (صناعة وتجارة)، كان هذا البحث الذي نأمل أن يلبي حاجة القرّاء والمختصين في معرفة الدور الحضاري / الإقتصادي الذي أدّته مملكة أوجاريت.
