هذا الكتاب عن ثورات الشعوب الأوروبية على الأنظمة المتسلّطة عليها في عام 1848، والتي يطلق عليها بعض المؤرّخين عبارة الربيع الأوروبي.
ونظراً لندرة المراجع العربية عن هذه الثورات المهمّة في تاريخ التطوّر السياسي في أوروبا، فقد رأى الكاتب ضرورة المساهمة من خلال هذا البحث في تقديم المعلومات عن هذه الثورات بإختصار ووضوح للقارئ العربي.
آملاً أن يكون هذا الكتاب عنصراً مساهماً في إثراء المكتبة العربية في هذا الموضوع، خصوصاً وأن المنطقة العربية قد مرّت منذ بداية العام 2011 بأحداث شبيهة بتلك التي مرّت بها دول أوروبا في عام 1848.
وحتى تكون الصورة واضحة بقدر الإمكان للقارئ، فقد اتّبع الكاتب أسلوب البحث التاريخي لفترة ما قبل حدوث الثورات فعليّاً، فقام ببحث المراحل التاريخية التي هيّأت لقيام تلك الثورات وإختصارها، إبتداءً بمرحلة الإصلاح الديني، ومروراً بعصر التنوير، ثم استعراض دعوات الإصلاح السياسي والإجتماعي والإقتصادي، ثم بعد ذلك تفصيل أحداث الثورات في عدد من البلدان الأوروبية، وتسلسل هذه الأحداث.
ولإستكمال الصورة، فقد تناول الباحث الأحداث اللاحقة لكل ثورة، والتي أدّت إلى إجهاض أغلب تلك الثورات وتلك المرحلة التي أطلق عليها المؤرخون اسم الثورات المضادة.
