تكمن أهمية هذه الكتاب، كونه من الموضوعات التي لم تأخذ حقها من الدراسة والبحث والتحليل - على حد علمنا - حتى اليوم، كما تكمن اهميته في كونه من الدراسات النقدية الحديثة في الإعلام، من حيث دراسة القائم بالإتصال، المتغير المستقبل، وذلك بتحليل مضامين إعلام الفضائيات الغربية الناطقة باللغة العربية، بهدف التعرف على مضامين إعلام موجه إلى المنطقة العربية من قبل أكبر ثلاث دول صناعية غربية.
كما تم تنفيذ الدراسة الميدانية (المسحية) التي هدفت إلى التعرف على مدى تأثير القائم بالإتصال في هذه الدراسة على التحليل المعرفي لعينة من الجمهور، من خلال عينة من الصحفيين بإعتبار أن هذه العينة تمثل واحدة من فئات النخبة في المجتمع والمعوّل عليها في التوعية بقيم الأمة والحفاظ على وحدتها وتماسكها، للحيلولة دون الإنقسامات الطائفية أو المناطقية.
وتكمن الأهمية المكانية لهذه الدراسة في كونها أجريت في اليمن، كواحدة من البلدان العربية التي شهدت ما يُسمى بثورات الربيع العربي، التي لحقتها حروب أهلية وطائفية، وتدخلات خارجية، لا حدود لأهدافها، وتكتسي أهميتها الزمانية في كونها أجريت أثناء النزاع المسلح الذي تشهده اليمن بين ما يسميان الحكومة الشرعية والإنقلابين، بدعم خارجي توزع على الطرفين.
