هذا الكتاب يحمل بين طياته فعاليات عمل المؤتمر العربى الرابع للإدارة البيئية. فقد كانت التنمية وستظل املا غاليا لدى المواطن العربي، لذلك تبادل الخبرات العربية في مجال التنمية المستدامة أمر هام للغاية يوحد التوجه نحو التكامل والتنسيق العربي بما يضمن مستقبل عربي أفضل للاجيال المقبلة. ولهذا سيحاول المؤتمر إلقاء الضوء على اهمية مبادرة الحكومات فى تفعيل دور مؤسسات المجتمع المدني والقطاع الخاص ومشاركتهم فى توجيه الجهود بما يحقق التنمية المستادمة بمساندة مؤسسات المجتمع المدني التى قد لا تتسم بالقوة المطلوبة فى الدول النامية، كما يتعين على الحكومات تشجيع المبادرات الاجتماعية للقطاع الخاص، ويتناول المؤتمر كذلك مدى الشفافية المطلوبة واللازمة لتبادل المعلومات واتاحتها فيما يخص حالة البيئة بين كافة أطراف وافراد المجتمع كأحد الضمانات الهامة لتحقيق التنمية المستدامة.
