لورنس كراوس فيزيائي وفلكي أمريكي، وهو مؤسس "مشروع الأصول" "the Origins Project" في جامعة أريزونا.
يُشاد به في الوسط العِلمي الأمريكي كواحد من الشخصيات العلمية المُفكّرة والمشهورة في الوسط الشعبي.
لديه أكثر من حوالي 800 منشور علمي ومؤلّف لثماني كُتب بما في ذلك كتابه الأكثر مبيعاً ستار تريك وكتاب كون من لا شيء.
حاصل على العديد من الجوائز الدولية للبحوث و الكتابة ويُعد من الفيزيائيين النظريين المشهورين جداً في الوسط العلمي العالمي.
ومن أهم المواضيع التي اشتهر بها هي البحوث التي تربط بين الفيزياء الكمية وعِلم الكون حيث تتناول دراساته وأبحاثه مواضيع مهمة مثل بداية الكون، طبيعة المادة المُعتمة، النظرية النسبية العامة، وفيزياء النيوترينو الفلكية.
حصل على درجة الدكتوراه في الفيزياء من معهد ماساتشوستس للتكنولوجيا في عام 1982، ثم انضم إلى جمعية هارفارد للزملاء.
و في عام 1985 انضم إلى كلية الفيزياء في جامعة ييل، وانتقل في عام 1993 ليصبح رئيس قسم الفيزياء في جامعة "Case Western Reserve" قبل توليه منصبه الحالي في جامعة ولاية أريزونا في عام 2008.
يكتب كراوس في الكثير من المجلات العلمية والصحف و يظهر بانتظام في الإذاعة والتلفزيون.
