تغادر "هند" بلدها الأم "الإمارات" إلى العاصمة البريطانية لندن لإتمام دراستها ونيل شهادة الدكتوراه، وهناك تلتقي بــ "أحمد" تنشأ بينهما علاقة حب، تنتهي بالزواج من دون علم الأهل، تتوالى الأحداث في الرواية حتى تتعرض هند لحادث سيرٍ يتركها في غيبوبة، ليتبين لاحقاً أن الحادث مفتعل "القبض على إرهابي عربي اعترف بمحاولة إغتياله لطالبة دكتوراه إماراتية في شارع مارك لين - لندن - سبتمبر الماضي".
وإذ ينكشف السرد على فضيحة من صنَّع الإرهاب وموّله وصدره إلى كافة أنحاء العالم "كانت هند تدرس تحليل الخطاب السياسي للجماعات الإرهابيّة، استطاعت أن تثبت أن خطابات القاعدة وغيرها من الجماعات المتطرفة كانت مكتوبة بالإنجليزية أولاً ثم تُرجمت إلى العربيّة وأعطيت للمتحدثين بإسم الجماعات لتبث في تسجيلات صوتية...".
وبناءً على ما تقدم، تكون رواية "أنا لست لي" للروائية البحرينية جليلة السيّد، صورة مصغرة عن مضمرات السياسة الخارجية وأهدافها خارج الحدود، كشفاً للــ إعادة، تقدم بأحداثها ووقائعها، ما استبطن من هذه السياسة، لا المرئي منها والمكشوف، وتبعث برسالة تقول فيها أن الكل يصنعون النماذج التي يدّعون محاربتها.
ما يعني بالنسبة للقارئ إعادة النظر بما هو سائد من أفكار للكشف حقيقة تلك الثقافة العدوانية في هذا العصر.
