أعذب الحديث حديث النفس ، إلى النفس وعن النفس . ولن يفرغ الحديث عنها في صفحة او كتاب او مجلدات. فهى السر المكنون واللغز الذي حارت فيه العقول ، على وفرة ما قال عنها الحكماء والمفكرون من أقدم العصور حتى اليوم. ولست أزعم أني قد كشفت الغطاء حتى برح عن أسرار النفس الخفاء ولكنها محاولة تضاف إلى محاولات السابقين الذين استفدت من اطلاعي على آرائهم، أو هى نظرة شخثية رأيت منها النفس الإنسانية كما بدت لي. وهل العلم إلا النظر؟ ولذلك جاءت هذه الدراسات موسومة بطابع النزعة الشخصية ، والتجربة التى حدثت لى خلال حياتي. ولم أتعمد التأليف فيها عن قصد ، فهى خطرات تجاوبت في نفسي، نشأ بعضها عن القراءة ، وبعضها الاخر عن التأمل في سيرة الناس ثم اودعتها مقالات في الصحف ، أو أحاديث على امواج الأثير. وقد ضممتها في هذه الباقة، ورأيت انها قد تكشف عن بعض الأسرار. ولما كانت هذه الفصول ثمرة التجربة الشخصية، فإنها تمتاز بالصدق والإحساس الصادق أساس كل دراسة نفسية أصيلة ، لأن يكشف عن الحق ويصل إلى القلب.
