تحت عنوان "تاريخ الحشيشية والمهدية التومرتية" يقدم الكاتب محمد يسري محمد حسن (دراسة تاريخية وعقدية مقارنة) يسلّط من خلالها الضوء على الحركات السياسية المذهبية في التاريخ الإسلامي، مع تسليط الضوء على حركة الحشيشة في إيران وحركة المهدي بن تومرت في المغرب الأقصى، وعقد مقارنة بينهما. كما تناول الكاتب عدداً من الأمثلة للحركات المذهبية السياسية في المشرق والغرب، ومنها حركة التوابين التي نشأت كرد فعل طبيعي عقب حادثة مقتل الحسين بن علي في كربلاء عام 61ه/ 680م، ثم تناول حركة المختار الثقفي، وبيّن العوامل التي أدت لظهور هذه الحركة، والإختلافات بينها وبين حركة التوابين، وعلاقة الثقفي بعبد الله بن الزبير وعلاقته بآل البيت ومحمد بن الحنفية، ومصير تلك الحركة وأهم الملاحظات عليها. أما بالنسبة للحركات المغربية، فقد تناول الكاتب بالدراسة الدولة الرسمية، التي قامت على أساس الفكر الخارجي الإباضي، فتكلم عن أصل الفكر الإباضي والخلاف حول شخصية مؤسسه، ثم انتشار ذلك الفكر في المغرب، والظروف التي أحاطت بوصول عبد الرحمن بن رستم إلى السلطة، وكيفية تأسيس دولته وبناء مدينة تاهرت عاصمة له ... كما تناول الكاتب حركات إسلامية أخرى وتحدث عن دور مؤسسيها، وبين وجهة نظر وعقيدة الفرق الإسلامية المختلفة في المهدي المنتظر، وفكرة العصمة، وفكرة الإمامة ... وموضوعات أخرى ذات صلة.
