ممن أدلى بدلوه في نقد المطبوعات البحّاثة المؤرِّخ السيد عبد الستار الحسَني، فكتب دراساتٍ نقديةً عدة، منها مجموعة مقالات رصينة في نقد كتاب "نهاية الأرب في معرفة أنساب العرب" للإمام القلقشندي (ت 821هـ)، فكشف بثاقب النظر أوهاماً وقع فيها القلقشندي في كتابه، وتتبع بالنقد أيضاً محققَ الكتاب: عليّـاً الخاقاني. ونُشرتْ مقالات السيّد الحسَني هذه في مجلة "البلاغ" العراقية. ولبعدها عن متناول القرّاء فقد جُمعت في صعيد واحد في هذا الكتاب، مع العناية والتصحيح والتعليق. وحيث إنّ هذه المقالاتِ لم تتناول بالتعريف كتاب "نهاية الأرب" وأهميته، وأصوله الخطية المتناثرة في خزائن العالم، وطبعاته المختلفة، فقد قدَّمَ المحقق الأستاذ محمد الرشيد بين يدي هذه المقالات بمقدِّمة تجمع المباحث المذكورة، مع ترجمة للمؤرِّخ الأستاذ علي الخاقاني المُتعقَّب في هذه "النظرات"، لتكتمل بذلك الفائدة لمطالع هذه المقالات النقدية.
