وكان من أهم الكتب وأجمعها كتاب: "آكام المرجان فى غرائب الأخبار وأحكام الجان" للإمام العلامة المحدث القاضى بدر الدين أبى عبد الله الشلبى الحنفى المتوفى سنة (769هجرياً) وقد استوعب رحمه الله الكتب السابقة عليه وزاد عليها شيئاً قليلاً.
ونظراً لما لهذا الكتاب من الأهمية والانتشار وقد اعتمد عليه كل من جاء بعده. توجهت النية لخدمة هذا الكتاب وفق الخطة الآتية: مقارنة الكتاب على أكثر من نسخة من النسخ المطبوعة، تخريج الأحاديث والآثار وبيان درجتها من الصحة، ترجمة ليعض الأعلام الواردة فى الكتاب، ذكر معانى الكلمات التى يصعب فهمها، كتابة مقدمة وجيزة تبين أهمية الموضوع والمؤلفات فيه يصدد تحقيقه، كتابة ترجمة موجزة للمؤلف رحمه الله، عمل فهرس الفبائى لأطراف الأحاديث، وأخيراً هذا جهد المقل سائلا الله تعالى التوفيق للصواب.
