تعتبر سنة 1988م سنة الذكريات بالنسبة لي، فقد حالفني الحظ وأجريت عدّة لقاءاتٍ وحوارات مع خمسةٍ من مجاهدي الدّفاع المقدّس دوّنت خلالها مذكراتهم ورواياتهم، منهم الأخ حسن شريفي أحد المؤسّسين لما يعرف بعمليات "التّكيّف" أو عدم الأمن المتقابل، وهو نوعٌ من توازن الرّعب في مياه الخليج الفارسي آخر سنوات الحرب.
وقد روى لي ما حفظته ذاكرته من أحداث ببيان سلس وعفوي، خصوصاً تلك التي تتعلق بكيفيّة بحرب "التكيّف" وضرورتها، وطريقة العمل ومشكلاتها، ونتائجها وتقييمها ونهايتها، مما حول روايتي هذه إلى مرجع أوّلي مفيد لمحققي ومؤرخي الحرب العراقية / الإيرانية.
إلاّ أنّ بعض الإعتبارات منعت من إتمام هذا العمل وبقيت هذه المذكرات رهينة في درج طاولتي حوالي إحدى عشرة سنة يعلوها الغبار وتقرأوها الأقدار، ولعدة أسباب لم تطبع ليلها ولم يقرأها النهار.
وها هي الأيام تهبني البشرى مرّة أخرى إذا أقدّم هذه المذكرات للطبع بعد أن تذللت تلك العوائق وانتفت عوالق تلك الإعتبارات، وكم يحبوني الفرح بأن سنحت لي الفرصة لطباعة هذا الكتاب القيّم والتاريخي.
