لما ظهر اعتقاد السلف في القرآن الكريم، وأنه كلام الله على الحقيقة، وأنه صفة من صفاته، وأنه غير مخلوق، وكفر العلماء من قال بخلقه، وأخزى الله الجهمية، تلون أصحاب هذا القول بلون جديد، وتخفوا وراء مسألة أخرى، وهي مسألة اللفظ، فقالوا: ألفاظنا بالقرآن مخلوقة.
فتصدى لهم أهل السنة والجماعة، وبينوا عوار هذا القول، ووصفوا من ذهب إليه بأنه جهمي، حسمًا لمادة الشبهة والابتداع.
وأما الإمام البخاري- رحمه الله- فقد فصل القول في مقتضى إطلاق هذه العبارة: ألفاظنا بالقرآن مخلوقة.
فقال- رحمه الله-: "حركاتهم وأصواتهم، واكتسابهم، وكتابتهم مخلوقة، فأما القرآن المتلو المبين، المثبت في المصحف، المسطور، المكتوب، الموعى في القلوب، فهو كلام الله ليس بخلق".
وصنف كتابه هذا: "خلق أفعال العباد" بعد ما امتحن في مسألة اللفظ، ونسب إليه، وشغب عليه فيها.
وهذا الكتاب الذي بين يديك- أخي القارئ الكريم- من أهم وأفضل ما صنف في هذه المسألة، ولما كان بهذه الدرجة من الأهمية فقد استخرت الله تعالى على تحقيق هذا الكتاب.
