مؤلف هذا الكتاب هو الشيخ الأديب سليمان بن محمد بن عبد الله الأهدل التهامي، الزبيدي، شاعر موهوب يأسرك ببساطته وسكينته ووقاره وابتسامته الدائمة.
نشأ الشاعر منذ الأربعينات في بلدة "زبيد" وتتلمذ على أيدي علمائها من آل الأهدل والسالمي، والبطاح، وغيرهم، وكانت له قراءاته الذاتية التي توغل بها في أعماق التراث الإسلامي، ومخر عباب الفكر والثقافة المعاصرة.
عاصر الشاعر وتابع باهتمام بالغ الأحداث الجسام إن على المستوى العالمي، أو الإسلامي، أو العربي، وخاصة التهامي اليمني، وكان حريصاً على الاتصال بالحركة الوطنية ثم بالحركة الإسلامية المتجددة، متأثراً بهما، ومتفاعلاً مع قضاياهما. ويظهر ذلك جلياً في شعره.
وهذه مجموعة رائعة من قصائده التي تحلق بنافي عالم رحب من الرؤى الخلابة، كالجنة الفيحاء، تغرد طيورها للحب والجمال، والكون والإنسان، والحياة والإيمان، ينادي بالحرية، والوحدة الوطنية العربية والإسلامية، داعياً الشباب للعلم والجد والتجدد، والخروج من أغلال القهر والجهل، فأجاد وأفاد وأغنى الشعر بملامح جديدة تشحذ الهمم نحو المجد.
