يسعى هذه القراءة أن تسلط الضوء على الظاهرة التشكيلية في السرد، والتي بدأت بواكيرها في (المملكة السوداء) لتتحول في ما بعد إلى ما يسميه محمد خضير بالسرد التشكيلي، غير أن القيم السردية الواردة فيها، والمشتركات الفنية السائدة في القصة الواقعية، تفترض عدم الإخلال ببقية العناصر المكونة لبنية النص المتكاملة والمتجانسة في منظومةٍ سرديةٍ واحدة.
وبزعمي أن تفكيك عناصر النَصّ الأولية وإنتقاء الجزء بعيداً عن علاقاته مع بقية العناصر يشبه البناء المعماري بمادة أولية واحدة، في وقت يتطلب العمل إشراك منظومة متعددة الوظائف كالأثقال والروابط والفراغات واللمسات الفنية.
