سبق "لمصر النهضة" أن أصدرت في يناير عام 2011 دراسة عن "الجالية البريطانية في مصر 1805- 1882" للباحثة ناهد السيد زيان، وها نحن اليوم ننشر عملاً جديداً يتناول تاريخ الجالية الفرنسية ونشاطها الإجتماعي في مصر منذ الإحتلال البريطاني وحتى العدوان الثلاثي على مصر عام 1956 الذي شاركت فيه فرنسا على نحو خطير، وسوف يرى القارئ الكريم أن الدكتورة نوريس على وعي كامل بموضوع دراستها وإشكالياته، حيث مهدت لفترته التاريخية بدراسة عن أوضاع الفرنسيين في مصر أعقاب رحيل حملتهم الإستعمارية عليها وتولية محمد علي حكم مصر، ورصدت كيف ولماذا تزايدت أعدادهم في عهدي محمد سعيد باشا والخديوي إسماعيل، وقد درست كذلك التوزيع الجغرافي للجالية، وحللت ظروف وأسباب توافد الفرنسيين إلى مصر، ثم عالجت أهم أوجه النشاط الذي مارسوه، سواء كان في وظائف الحكومة أو في ممارسة المهن الحرة. وفي فصلين مهمين تناولت المؤلفة الدور التعليمي والثاقفي للجالية في دراسة مستفيضة على جانب كبير من الأهمية؛ فدرست على نحو خاص مؤسسات التعليم الفرنسي، ودور الفرنسيين في التعليم العالي وتأسيس جامعة الإسكندرية... كما تناولت نشاط الجالية الثقافي والفني في فصل ممتع، وجعلت الدكتورة نوريس تغوص داخل مجتمع الجالية الفرنسية في مصر حيث درست أحواله الشخصية وسلوكياته الإجتماعية وأنشتطته الخيرية والصحية والرياضية... إلخ وقد قادها ذلك لأن تدرس مدى تأثير هذا النشاط أو تلك الثقافة على المجتمع المصري، إيجابياً وسلبياً في شتى المجالات، لمعرفة مدى تأثير "الثقافة الفرنكفونية" وتفوقها، وهو ما كان يميز الإمبريالية الفرنسية عن غيرها..
