سلوى روضة شقير الفنانة اللبنانية المولودة في بيروت عام 1916، هي من رواد الفن التجريدي في العالم العربي. عرفت بمواقفها المهنية على قناعة مطلقة بالأسس الحسابية للفن الإسلامي، ورفضت منذ البداية نقل الواقع، مستغنية عن كل مرجعية أيقونية أو رمزية. اشتهرت بمنحوتاتها المركبة من قطع عدة تتفكك أو تتراكب حتى اللانهاية، مثلما تتفكك أو تتراكب أبيات القصيدة العربية، كما دافعت طوال حياتها عن خصوصية فنٍّ عماده الشكل كما الشعر عماده الكلمة. الطريق بالنسبة إليهما هي التجربة الصوفية والشكل النهائي. كما فهمته الفنانة ذات الولع العلمي، هو شكل تجريدي لا يوصف بالخطوط والمساحات والألوان، بل إنه مجموعة المعادلات القائمة بين عناصر العمل وبين العمل ومحيطه.
وقد بقيت أفكار هذه الفنانة المبدعة، ولفترة طويلة من الزمن، غير مفهومة سوى لحلقات صغيرة من متذوقيها، ابتدأت بمحترف الفن التجريدي في باريس ثم أخذت تتسع لتشمل محبي الفن من جميع الأجيال والجنسيات. وفي هذا الكتاب سيرة لحياة هذه الفنانة وذلك بقلم ابنتها وعدد من متذوقي فنها، وأيضاً بقلمها الذي هو بالواقع فنها وأعمالها. حيث شمل ذلك نحو مائتين وخمسين صورة ملونة من أعمال هذه الفنانة الظاهرة، إضافة إلى نصوص تحليلية من شأنها أن تلقي الأضواء على فلسفتها وتجربتها.
