"ما بعد الصدمة" هي الرواية الثالثة للكاتب العراقي الدكتور جاسم محمد عبود بعد اثنتين هما "كايروس" و"أسرار فتاة قاعة التشريح" وإذا كانت الرواية الأولى تناولت فكرة السفر عبر الزمن، والرواية الثانية تناولت فلسفة الروح؛ فإن الحرب وتداعياتها النفسية هو موضوع الرواية الثالثة. ويتم تظهير الحكاية من خلال عرض حالة شخص تعرض لاضطراب "ما بعد الصدمة" أو كما يسميه البعض باضطراب الكرب التالي للصدمة. وفي الرواية؛ يتم العثور على رجل في الثلاثين من عمره، مصاب بالتجمد، ملقى على الأرض المعشبة على ضفاف نهر فيسر، في منطقة التقاء شارعي (أوستريش) و(سيل وول) قرب مرسى العبارات، ويجري العمل على إنقاذه... وبعد أن يصحو في المستشفى يتبين أنّه طبيب قدم لاجئاً من العراق إلى ألمانيا منذ حوالي السنة، ويراجع طبيباً نفسياً لعلاجه من اضطراب ما بعد الصدمة واضطراب القلق المجتمعي الذي ظهر عليه في وقت متأخر.
بهذه الصيغة السردية تترك الرواية الباب مفتوحاً لتأويلات المتلقين المحتملين؛ فبطل الرواية الطبيب "هلال" الميت الحيّ، الفاقد للوعي، والذي عانى ما عانى أثناء حرب الأميركان على بلاده، ستكون صحوته، رداً صورياً على حالة الموت المجازي التي تسكن باطن روحه، وتعيده إلى نقطة البداية. الحصار، والحرب الأميركية، والفقدان للوطن والحبيبة والأهل والأصدقاء، ورحلة اللجوء والمرض، كلها مشاهد لا تشخص حالة فرد هو بطل الرواية بقدر ما تشخص اللحظة التاريخية الدقيقة التي عاشها شعب العراق، بمفرداتها العديدة من القتل والقصف والخطف والتهجير إلى الشهداء والسيارات المفخخة، ومحاولة البقاء والخروج من المحنة، وهو ما يُكسب الرواية أهميتها.
