يهدف هذا الكتاب إلى تقديم مبادئ الإقتصاد الجزئي للقارئ الذي لم يسبق له دراسة النظرية الإقتصادية، وقد اشتمل هذا الكتاب على أربعة أقسام رئيسية. يتناول القسم الأول منها مقدمة استهلالية لمبادئ علم الإقتصاد، ويتكون من ثلاثة فصول يشتملون على تعريف علم الإقتصاد ومناهج البحث فيه وفروعه كما يقدمون عرضاً مبسطاً لمفهوم المشكلة الإقتصادية المختلفة هذا بالإضافة إلى عرض بعض الملامح العامة للتفكير الإقتصادي، ويتناول القسم الثاني بطريقة مبسطة توازن السوق، ويتكون من أربعة فصول تشتمل على النظرية العامة للطلب ومرونته، والنظرية العامة للعرض ومرونته، وكيفية تحديد توازن السوق التنافسي، وكيفية تغير هذا التوازن. وكذلك بعض الاثار المترتبة علي التدخل الحكومي في تحديد أثمان السلع والخدمات، وقد خصص القسم الثالث لدراسة توازن المستهلك، ويتكون من فصلين يشتملان على نظرية المنفعة الحدية وتحليل منحيات السواء، أما القسم الرابع فيدرس توازن المنتج، وذلك من خلال أربعة فصول تتناول نظرية الإنتاج في الفترة القصيرة، ونظرية التكاليف في الفترة القصيرة، وتوازن الوحدة الإنتاجية في ظل شكلين من أشكال السوق الذي تعمل فيه الوحدة الإنتاجية وهما سوق المنافسة الكاملة وسوق الإحتكار.
