تتّسم المعالجة الهيدجرية لسؤال الفنّ - من حيث إنتمائها إلى مجال علم الجمال من جهة وفلسفة الفنّ من جهة أخرى - بالطّرافة والغموض في نفس الوقت، ولا أدلّ على ذلك من التّأويلات الّتي أثارها هيدجر حول تصوّره الفلسفي للفنّ من قبل أولئك الّذين انشغلوا بدراسة فلسفته وآثاره الفلسفية، ومن بينها محاضرته الشّهيرة حول "أصل الأثر الفنّي" الّتي كانت - ولا تزال - مثار جدال وخلاف بينهم.
فمنهم من يسلّم بأنّ معالجة هيدجر للفنّ تنتمي إلى مجال علم الجمال، وإلى هذا يذهب كايلن الّذي يستنكر إهمالاً لمساجلات الفلسفيّة المعاصرة الدّائرة حول علم الجمال الفينومينولوجى المتعلّقة بإسهام مارتن هيدجر في هذا الصّدد.
وعلى نقيض ذلك، نجد هوفشتاتر الّذي يقوم - منذ البداية - بإستبعاد معالجة هيدجر لسؤال الفنّ من دائرة علم الجمال، بل ومن دائرة فلسفة الفنّ بوجه عام، على أساس أن تفكيره في الفنّ لم يكن مهتماً بالعمل الفنّي بإعتباره موضوعاً لخبرة جماليّة.
وإنطلاقاً من حالة الغموض والجدل القائم حول المسألة الفنيّة وموقعها في الأنطولوجيا الأساسيّة لهيدجر ارتأينا أن نولي سؤال الفنّ عند هيدجر المنزلة التي يستحقها لأنّنا نفترض أنّ الفنّ عند هيدجر هو الوجه الآخر للدّازاين وإستئناف لمشروع هيدجر الأوّل "الوجود والزّمان".
لذلك، نلاحظ تعدّد كتابات هيدجر حول الفنّ وخاصة تلك الّتي تتمحور حول الشّعر والشّعراء واللّغة في إستعمالاتها الشّعريّة بعد كتابه الأوّل وخاصّة محاضرته المباشرة حول "أصل الأثر الفنّي" الّتي تجلّت فيها بوضوح إنشغال هيدجر الجدّي بسؤال الفنّ.
