قمت بجرد جميع كتب الشيخ المطبوعة، باحثاً عن كل راو قال فيه الشيخ - رحمه الله - لم أجده، لم أعرفه، لم أقف له على ترجمة، ونحو ذلك من العبارات التي تحوي هذه المعاني.
كذلك قمت بوضع كل راوٍ على بطاقة منفردة، حتى يسهل عليّ الترتيب، وقمت بترتيب الرواة على الحروف الأبجدية، حسب ترتيب كتاب "التقريب" لإبن حجر، وتصرفت في بعض العبارات تصرفاً لا يخل بمعناها، وإنما يحصل الخلل بها إذا بقيت كما هي، مثل أن يقول الشيخ - رحمه الله: "وفيه فلان وفلان، ولم أعرفهما، أو لم أجد من ترجمهما"؛ فاذكر كل راو على حده، وأكتب: ولم أعرفه، ولم أجد من ترجمه، وهكذا.
حاولت قدر الإمكان الرجوع إلى مصدر الشيخ - رحمه الله سواءً كان مطبوعاً أو مخطوطاً، وإن كان له أكثر من طبعة اعتمدت على أدقها في ظني، مما يسر عليّ الوصول إلى معرفة الراوي أحياناً، سادساً: أبهم الشيخ أسماء بعض الرواة الذين لم يعرفهم، فما وقفت على إسناده منها واستطعت معرفته ذكرته باسمه في موطنه، وتكلمت عليه، أما من لم أعرف اسمه فلم أذكره.
