النحو العربي علم عربي صرف، ويعتمد بناء قواعده على مصدرين أصليين وهما: السماع والقياس، ولا يعقد القياس في النحو إلا على عنصرين بارزين هما العنصر الفلسفي والعنصر الفقهي، و على الرغم من الأهمية التي يقرها النحويون للإعراب، فإن هذا لم يمنع من ظهور آراء ترى غير ذلك..
ولذا فإن هذا الكتاب يسلط الضوء على ثلاثة جوانب مهمة في مجال الدراسة النحوية وتطويرها، وهي: أولًا: إن النحو العربي ليس كله معتمدًا على القياس بل هناك مصادر رئيسة أخرى هي أساس في استنباط الأحكام والقواعد النحوية ألا وهي آيات الذكر الحكيم والأحاديث النبوية والشعر العربي، ثانيًا: إن النحو العربي لم يتأثر بالنحو الأجنبي؛ لأن نظرية العامل لا توجد في لغات أخرى غير العربية، ثالثًا: إن الدولة الأموية في الأندلس كانت نقطة انتشار العلوم الإسلامية بشكل عام، واللغة العربية ونحوها بشكل خاص في أوربا.
