يهدف هذا القاموس المصطلحي إلى إبراز حالة من حالات علوم اللغة، مثلما يلاحظ ذلك من خلال الممارسات المصطلحية الفعلية لدى اللسانيين.
يشتمل هذا القاموس على ما يقارب الألف مدخل في فلسفة اللغة، والإبستيمولوجيا، والمعلوماتية، والعلوم الإدراكية، وتاريخ النحو، وبالطبع مختلف مكوّنات الوصف اللساني.
يصحب كلّ مدخل بطاقة تعريف تهدف، دون السعي إلى الشمولية، إلى تشخيص مجال، أو العديد من مجالات تطبيق المصطلح. وإن جرى في العديد من الحالات اعتماد الإيجاز الذي يتخذ شكل المسرد، فإننا أحلنا المصطلح قدر الإمكان إلى مؤلفي علوم اللغة، من خلال الإكثار من الشواهد التي تضع المفاهيم في سياقها، قصد تسهيل فهمها.
