تهدف سلسلة النقابات في مصر إلى التطرق إلى أحد أهم المجالات التي لم تحظ باهتمام بحثي كاف في مجال النظم السياسية المقارنة . فجماعات المصالح ومن أهمها النقابات تدخل في نطاق دراسة المجتمع المدني الذيتزايد الاهتمام به مؤخرا كنتيجة لمناخ التحول الديمقراطي الذي ظهر مع انهيار الكتلة الاشتراكية وبروز عصر العولمة وثورة الاتصالات . وفي هذا الإطار تقدم البنية المصرية نموذجا واضحا لدراسة النقابات في الديمقراطيات المقيدة في العالم الثالث مع الاعتراف بوجود نوع من الخصوصية للحالة المصرية التي تتزايد فيها اعداد النقابات مع عدم توافر المعلومات الكافية حول الكثير منها المر الذي يثير العديد من التساؤلات حول توجهاتها وانشطتها والأدوار التي تقوم بها وتهدف هذه السلسلة الى تناول وضعية ودور هذه النقابات في النظام السياسي ومعرفة دورها منذ نشاتها في التعبير عن الرأي العام وتمثيل مصالح فئاته المختلفة وقدرتها على الحفاظ على فاعليتها ودورها المهني كما تتناول ايضا علاقات النقابات بالحكومة بسلطاتها الثلاث التنفيذية والتشريعية والقضائية في النظام السياسي كذلك علاقاتها بالاحزاب والقوى السياسية في المجتمع .
