في هذا الكتاب تعرض المؤلف للوظائف الحيوية التي تضطلع بها الغدد الصماء في جسم الإنسان أو الحيوان من خلال إفرازاتها من الهرمونات المختلفة، كما تعرض لنواحي القصور الوظيفي أو فرط النشاط الذي يعتري كل غدة من الغدد وما يترتب على ذلك من اعتلالات وأسقام، بالإضافة إلى وصف غير مخل للتركيبين التشريحي والنسيجي لكل غدة.
ولما كان التناسل في الثدييات وثيق الإرتباط بالغدد الصماء فقد خصص له المؤلف شطراً معتبراً من الكتاب حيث تناول بإسهاب تركيب الجهازين التناسليين الأنثوي والذكري من الناحية التشريحية، وكذلك ما يساهم به كل جهاز على حدة في عملية إنتاج النسل.. وقد تعرض المؤلف أيضاً بشئ من التركيز لعمليات تدخل في صميم التناسل بطبيعتها ألا وهي الحمل والولادة وإنتاج اللبن.
ويمكننا القول إن الكتاب بمثابة دليل دراسي لطلاب مرحلة البكالوريوس وما بعدها في الكثير من الكليات العملية مثل الزراعة والصيدلة والعلوم والطب البشري والطب البيطري.
