لِسِيَرِ الأُسَرِ العلميةِ في تاريخنا الإسلاميّ مساحةٌ شاسعة، فيها من الأخبار والآثار ما يبهر الناظر، ويسر الخاطر، لا سيّما تلك الأُسَر التي كانت في سيرتها العملية - فضلاً عن العلمية - أنموذجاً للأسرة المسلمة المباركة الفاعلة، فكانت أسوةً وقدوة، ومثلاً لأبناء الأمة، يحتذون بحذوها، ويهتدون بهديها.
ولعلّ من أجلّ تلك الأُسَر الإسلامية وأطولها إمتداداً عبر سني التاريخ: آلَ وفا، ذريةَ الوليّ الكبير محمدِ بن محمد وفا، المصري الشاذلي، المتوفى سنةَ (765) هجرية، الذين شَرُفت الديارُ المصرية بنزولهم فيها إلى يومنا هذا، ولم يزل مسجدهم الكبير بسفح جبل المقطَّم بالقاهرة شاهداً على تلك المآثر الخالدة، بل قلّ أن يتسلسل في عائلةٍ واحدةٍ من الأولياء والصالحين ما تسلسل في آل وفا رحمهم الله تعالى جميعاً.
ولذا اعتنى المؤرِّخون بتدوين أخبار هذه الأسرة المباركة، وأفردَ بعضُهم تاريخَها وتراجمَ أعيانِها بالتصنيف، كالإمام المحدِّث محمد مرتضى الزَّبيدي الحنفي (شارح القاموس)، والعلاّمة عبد الباقي الزرقاني المالكي صاحب كتابنا هذا: "النفحة الرحمانية في تراجم السادة الوفائية" محقَّقاً بقلم الأستاذ بسام محمد بارود.
