إن وزيرا هنا شأنه كان من البديهيات أن يهتم بتعليم الناس اهتمامه بإكرام العلماء فكان أول من أنشأ المدراس، وفى عبارة أخرى أشهر من بنى المدارس والمساجد والأربطة والخانقاوات، فقد أنشأ إحدى عشر مدرسة أو بالأحرى هى كليات طبقاً لمصطلحات زماننا واختار لها كبار العلماء وكثيراً ما كان يسهم فى اختيارهم قبل تقلدهم وظائفهم، فبنى هذه المدراس المشهورة فى بغداد، وبلخ، ونياسبور، وهراة، وأصيهان وعسكر مكرم، والبصرة ومرو، وأمل طبرستان والموصل، وطوس، وأجرى الأرزاق على العلماء والطلاب والموظفين. وكان "نظام الملك" فارساً فاتحاً مظفراً، ففى عهد وزارته امتدت حدود دولة ملكشاه من كاشفر إلى بيت المقدس طولا، ومن قرب قسطنطينية إلى بحر الهند غربا، ومن شمائل "نظام الملك" الذى لا أتردد فى وصفه بكبير وزراء الأمة الإسلامية.
لا يمنع أحدا من الدخول عليه خاصة وقت الطعام، لقد نشر "نظام الملك" العدل والعلم، والجود، والخير والعمران، والرخاء، وأعز جانب المسلمين وحصن الثغور، ومع ذلك فقد مات غينة رغم شيخوخته وفناء وقته فى خدمة الرعية، إذ طعنه شاب متظاهر بالصوفية فكانت الطعنة قاتلة لزينة وزراء المسلمين بعد إفطار العاشر من رمضان سنة 485هـ فحمل إلى أصبهان حيث جرى دفنه فيها.
