مع الأرنب "باني" والزرافة "راني" نقرأ مجموعة من 28 قصة لتعليم القراءة للصغار الذين أكملوا تعلم الحروف وأصبحوا مستعدين لقراءة كلمة وجملة بسيطتين.
تقوم فكرة سلسلة ابدأ وأقرأ على ما يلي:
-قراءة قصة تتكون من حرفين وكلمة واحدة، ثم التدرج في القراءة بزيادة حرف واحد، وقراءة قصة جديدة، وهكذا في كل مرة نقدم للطفل حرفاً جديداً وقصة جديدة.
-في القصة الأولى (قصة أنا) يراجع الطفل حرفين فقط (أ ن) مع حروف المد ثم يقرأ القصة مستخدماً فقط هذين الحرفين.
-في القصة الثانية (قصة باني) يراجع حرفاً إضافياً (ب) مع حروف المد ثم يقرأ القصة مستخدماً 3 حروف فقط، الحرف الجديد (ب) بالإضافة إلى الحرفين (أ ن) من القصة السابقة، وهكذا... في كل مرة يراجع حرفاً جديداً وقصة جديدة حتى يكمل الطفل قراءة 28 قصة و100 كلمة.
