قامت جدلية الإخراج مع النص في مطلع القرن الحالي، بمحاولات لإخراج النص من أدبيته (سرديته) ووضعه في دائرة (المسرحية). فالتطورات الحاصلة من (آدولف آبيا) مروراً بـ(جودت كريج) و(ستانسلافسكي) وصولاً إلى آخر الأساليب الإخراجية هي تنويعات على مهمات (الميزانسين) في (الوظيفة والتعبير) الفنيين، لمعرفة حدود (النص) الفارقة على منطلقات العرض المسرحي. وحتى يصبح جنس العرض المسرحي معبراً عن جوهره دون انمحاقه تحت سطوة الأدب، كان الميزانسين جواباً على الأسئلة المنبثقة عن الصراع بين النص والعرض.
واتخذت هذه المسألة مسارات ومسميات متفاوتة لترجمة ذلك مجسداً في الفضاء المسرحي، وإقامة العلاقة مع المتلقي بوصفه المستقبل الحي لرسالة لها وظيفتها الاتصالية المختلفة عن وسائل الاتصال الأخرى، فلا يسع المسرحي أن يصنع وجوده كمتلق فاعل يعيد إنتاج التشكيل، ويرسم أفق التوقع، وهذا التوقع يتشكل في ضوء بناء (الميزانسين) الكلي، فإن أي معالجة للنص هي تأويل جمالي وبناء التشكيل الحركي وليس ترجمة تفسيرية تعتمد (المسعي والمرئي) بوصفها مجالات العرض وخصوصية التجسيد الحي، بل إن التشكيل هو (مبنى) (محتوى) يكون المفهوم الكلي والتعريف المركيز للعرض المسرحي. إن اتجاهات المسرح العالمي وانعطافاته التجريبية... انطلقت من جدلية تشكيل النص والذات الجماعية من منظور تاريخي عبر بناء الميزانسين الكلي.
حول هذا الموضوع الميزانسين في العرض المسرحي يأتي البحث في هذا الكتاب وقد تمّ التطرق إلى مناقشة المواضيع التالية: أولاً تطور "الميزانسين" في المسرح العالمي، ثانياً: بناء "الميزانسين"، ثالثاً: أنواع "الميزانسين"، رابعاً: "الميزانسين" والأفكار الفنية. ثم تناول البحث في الفصل الثاني: أولاً: المخرج وإنشائية الفضاء، ثانياً: القدرة التشكيلية عند الممثل.
