كتبتُ معظم أجزاء هذا الكتاب في غضون ثلاثة أشهر، ولكنّي بدأت بالتحضير له منذ 45 عاماً، ليتني كتبتُ كلّ خواطري طوال تلك السنوات... هذا ندمي الحقيقي!...
قرّرتُ الكتابة يوم شعرتُ أن ما أكتبه يومياً نتفاً غير مترابطة لا يرسم صورةً واضحة عمّا أراه في هذا العالم، ولا يؤدّي عرضاً في توجيه الرسالة التي أريدُ توجيهها.
ثمّ أنّي أخاف جديّاً من مرضٍ اسمه الألزهايمر، لا أعرف لماذا لديّ توقّع يشبه الهاجس أني سأصاب به يوماً ما، يا لهول هذا المرض!... تخيّل أن تنسى ماضيك ولا تفقه حاضرك.
تخيّل أن تعود طفلاً لا يتكلّم ولا يمشي ولا يتحرّك...
أحسستُ فجأة إنني في سباقٍ مع الزمن، وأن الوقت، هذا الماكر، يتربّص بي بكلّ غدرٍ وشدّة، فتحتُ أوراقي ذات صباحٍ من الشهر الثالث من سنة 2015 وبدأت الكتابة وكأنني أقدّم إمتحاناً... نعم، قد يكون إمتحان الحياة، أو قلّ، إمتحان ما قبل الموت...
حوّلت الكتابة في ذلك الصباح من هواية مزمنة، أو وحيدة، أو الوحيدة المستمرّة مع الأيام، إلى مصير.
وكأن هذا الكتاب قد بدأ يعيقني عن الحركة، أو عالقٌ هو في حنجرتي يمنعني عن التنفّس.
