سألتني السيدة الكريمة لو كنت أريد شرابًا، وطلبت منها بعض العصير، العديد من الشباب في مثل سني حضروا الحفل والشابات، وعندما حان دوري في الكلام، قلت إنني سعيد جدًا بتواجدي الليلة بين الأصدقاء، وإنني أريد الحديث عن مستقبل الوطن، وأردفت.. "إننا نمر اليوم، وللمرة العاشرة ربما، في تاريخنا المعاصر، بنوع من أزمة البحث عن هوية:، وكان هو يقاطعني بالغناء، "أنا كنت فين لما شبتي، أنا هنت لما انتي هنتي، من تاني أديكي اتولدتي"، فهمت أنه يريد السيطرة على مجريات الأمور، وأن يدفعني إلى التخلص من نبرة التشاؤم، التي ولا بد كانت بادية على مظهري الرقيق، بوصفي واحدًا من هؤلاء الطامحين، الباحثين عن فرصة، شعرت بغلاسة موقفي، وأنا الغريب وسط هؤلاء، في عينيه كنت أرى مساحات كبيرة من الحزن، يداعب الفتيات والنساء الموجودات، يفتعل ظلالًا من المرح في المكان، وراحت أفكاري تشرد في السنوات البعيدة، تذكرت أول شريط كاسيت اشتريته يضم أغنياته، أعتقد أنني اشتريته من كشك سجائر في حي بولاق الدكرور، هل كنت أعيش في بولاق أيامها، أم في مكان آخر؟! اشتريته مع شريط كاسيت آخر لجون لينون. ظللت لسنوات أستمع لمنير فقط، وجون لينون، لا أرضى بغير غنائهما بديلًا، كلاهما يشقيان روحي من الكثير من العنت والهموم، الانبهار الذي أخذني في بداية ولوجي إلى الفيلا الأنيقة، راح يخفف شيئًا فشيئًا؛ حتى إنني عدت أدراجي إلى عقلي، وجدتني أسخر من فكرة أنني رأيت صلاح أبو سيف فعلًا، وأحمد زكي، ويوسف شاهين، في المكان، وشعرت بأنني أريد أن أحكي أنني توهمت أنهم فعلًا موجودون بيننا الآن.
