من الأمور المُسلَّمْ بها أن الرياضيات لها تأثير أساس في تكوين العقلية العلمية وإرساء دعائم الحضارة والمدنية، فهناك علاقة طردية بين مقررات الرياضيات وبين إحتياجات التنمية والتكنولوجيا الصناعية والزراعية والتجارية وحتى العسكرية، ولعلم التفاضل والتكامل أثره الكبير في الإسهام في هذه العلاقة كعنصر فعال، نظراً لدوره في التطبيقات العملية التي زودت الإنسان بالآليات والحاسبات الإلكترونية، ومن ثم مكنته من غزو الفضاء ودراسة الذرة.
وإنطلاقاً من الأهمية التي لا يمكن تجاهلها لحساب التفاضل والتكامل وتطبيقاتهما في العلوم التطبيقية، جاء هذا الكتاب الذي يهدف إلى: تقديم طرق حساب التكاملات بشكل واضح وسهل، وقد ضم الجزء الأول من الكتاب: التفاضل والتكامل (1) على الفصول التالية: تناول الفصل الأول: تعريف الدالة وبعض أنواعها، أما الفصل الثاني: فقد خصص لدراسة الدوال العكسية.
وقد بحث المؤلف بشكل مفصل الإشتقاق (التفاضل) وقواعد الإشتقاق والتفاضلات المتتالية، في الفصل الثالث؛ أما الفصل الرابع: تمت به دراسة بعض التطبيقات للإشتقاق وعرض به مبرهنة القيمة المتوسطة.
إن للتكاملات غير المحدودة دوراً أساسياً ورائداً، حيث عرض به طرق المكاملة والنماذج الأساس، وتفريق (تجزيء) الكسور النظامية ومكاملة الدوال المثلثية والكسرية والصماء (الجذرية)، كل ذلك تم تقديمه في الفصل الخامس، وفي الفصل السادس: دُرِسَ به التكاملات المحددة وأهم التطبيقات الهندسية والفيزيائية.
