هذا الكتاب "دراسة تاريخية نسبية" حول (آل البطاط) في العالم الإسلامي ومصادر نسبهم إلى البقاع والأوطان. حيث اعتبرهم الكاتب أنهم من الذين اختصوا بكرامات نسبت إليهم حتى صارت علامة دالة مميزة لهم، إذ تلقب فئة منهم بكرامة عرفوا بها فتميزوا عن غيرهم، حتى صارت لقباً لهم. وهؤلاء الأماجد هم السادة آل البطاط الذين لهم انتشارا واسعا في العراق وبعض الدول العربية والإسلامية.
وقد تكفلت هذه الدراسة بهذا اللقب، من أجل تسليط الضوء عليه بحثاً وتحليلاً وتبيان ما تفرع منه من ألقاب، فاشتهر حتى صار اللقب من الصعب جدا تعيين اتصاله ما لم تبذل جهود مضنية لهذا الغرض، فكما يقول المؤلف "فالسادة آل البطاط في العالم الإسلامي منهم من ذرية الإمام علي بن الحسين عليهما السلام، فهم حسينية، ومنهم موسوية، والموسوية منهم فروع عديدة منهم خوارية وعوكلانية ومجابية. وأيضا لقب البطاط يعرف به مجموعة من غير السادات ولا صلة لهم بالسادات أصلا سوى اللقاء المذهبي..."، كل هذه الأمور ستقف عليها هذه الرسالة الموسومة بـ(آل البطاط في العالم الإسلامي).
من عناوين الكتاب نذكر: التوزيع الجغرافي لآل البطاط، الأسر التي تحمل لقب البطاط، آل البطاط في ميسان والأهواز، آل البطاط في البصرة، آل البطاط في الأحساء، آل السلمان المولى البطاط، التشجير لآل البطاط في مختلف المدن العراقية... .
