أراد المؤلف "علي بن طاووس" من كتابه هذا الذي ضمّنه جملة واسعة من الآداب الإسلامية المختلفة، والأدعية والأحراز المختصة بأيام الشهر مرتبة ضمن جملة من الفصول المختصة، أن يكون من تتمات كتاب (مصباح المتهجد) لشيخ الطائفة "الطوسي". ولعل المتأمل البسيط في مجمل فصول هذا الكتاب المهم والسفر القيم يكشف عن القدرة الرائعة لمؤلفه في انتقاء الدرر المبعثرة من تراث الدعاء الخالد لمدرسة أهل البيت عليهم السلام.
هذا يشكل الجانب الأول الذي يمكن للقارئ أن يستقرأه من خلال مطالعته المتعجلة لهذا الكتاب، وأما الملاحظة الأخرى والتي يمكن لنا استشفافها من خلال هذا الاستقراء، فهي القدرة الرائعة للمؤلف على تطويع العبارات الأدبية المختلفة-التي يزدان بها كتابه-على خدمة المبنى الخاص الذي انتحاه في تأليفه لهذا الكتاب.
