هذا الكتاب إستعادة لأحداث، وأجواء، ومواقف، وإتصالات، طوتها ضخامة ما نتج عن الحرب العالمية الأولى، وقد تداخلت فيها مصالح الدول العظمى، آنذاك، ودبلوماسياتها وإستخباراتها ومصالحها السياسية والإقتصادية، وتقاطعت وتعارضت مع النزعات العربية التحرّرية التي عبّرت عنها نخب، وأمراء وقادة عرب، عقدوا العزم على التحرّر من السلطنة العثمانية التي كانت تحاول تأييد سيطرتها، تحت عنوان الرابطة الإسلامية بقيادة الخليفة.
أوجين يونغ الذي رافق هذا المخاض وخيباته، أماط اللثام عن مجموعة من الوثائق والمعلومات والجهود التي قادتها نخب جعلت غير الممكن ممكناً، وفي طليعتها نجيب عازوري.
